LOS ANGELES – A woman has been charged with attempting to murder famous singer Rihanna and has also faced more than a dozen other serious charges. Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a 35-year-old from Orlando, Florida, is scheduled to appear in court this Wednesday to enter her plea.

The incident occurred on March 8, when Ortiz allegedly opened fire at Rihanna’s home in Beverly Hills. At the time, Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, their three young children, and several others were present at the property. This shocking event has raised significant concerns about safety and celebrity privacy.

Ortiz is facing multiple charges, including 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three counts of shooting at an occupied vehicle or dwelling. These serious accusations could lead to a life sentence in prison if she is found guilty on all counts.

During her initial court appearance on March 11, Ortiz’s lawyer entered a plea of not guilty on her behalf, but then decided to postpone the arraignment for a later date. She is currently being held in jail with a bail set at an astonishing $1.8 million.

Public records indicate that Ortiz has been a licensed speech pathologist for over ten years, which adds an unexpected twist to her profile. The Public Defender’s Office representing her stated that they would ensure she receives full constitutional protections during the legal process.

Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman reported that at the time of the shooting, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were in an Airstream trailer, while their family and staff were inside the main house. The charges related to firing at a dwelling specifically target Rihanna’s house, her trailer, and a neighbor’s house. The assault charges pertain to Rihanna and her family, two staff members, and two individuals in the neighboring residence.

Hochman did not disclose details about where the bullets landed, nor did he provide information about Ortiz’s motive or any connection she might have to Rihanna, stating that these matters are still under investigation.

Rihanna, a renowned artist with nine Grammy Awards and 14 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, is known for songs like “We Found Love,” “Work,” “Umbrella,” and “Disturbia.” In addition to her music career, she founded the successful makeup brand Fenty Beauty in 2017. Recently, she and A$AP Rocky welcomed their third child, a daughter named Rocki Irish Mayers, in September.
