LONDON – Recently, three men who claimed that actor Kevin Spacey sexually assaulted them have reached a settlement for their civil claims before their trial was set to begin at the High Court in London. This news comes from court documents that have been made public.
The men alleged that these abuses took place between 2000 and 2013, although Spacey has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
Originally, the civil trial was supposed to start later this year. However, Judge Christina Lambert recently ordered a pause in the proceedings after confirming that both parties had agreed to settle. She stated, “By consent, it is ordered that all further proceedings against the defendant in these actions be stayed upon the terms set out in this order and in the confidential schedule.”
The specific terms of the settlement remain confidential, and the judge did not address any costs associated with the case.
This order, dated March 13, was made public recently, shedding light on the ongoing legal battles surrounding Spacey.
Spacey, now 66 years old, faced criminal charges in London in 2023 for nine alleged sex offenses against four men but was acquitted on all counts. Notably, two of the civil claimants testified during his criminal trial.
In a separate case, Spacey successfully defended himself against a $40 million civil lawsuit in New York in 2022, brought by actor Anthony Rapp from “Star Trek: Discovery.”
Once celebrated as one of the most talented actors of his generation, Spacey starred in iconic films such as “Glengarry Glen Ross,” “LA Confidential,” and the critically acclaimed TV series “House of Cards.” He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the 1995 film “The Usual Suspects” and another for Best Actor for “American Beauty” in 1999.
Additionally, Spacey served as the artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theatre from 2004 to 2015, further cementing his influence in the arts before his career faced significant challenges due to the allegations against him.
