SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio man named Johnathan Gamez, 31, has been charged with serious crimes after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend on multiple occasions. According to police reports, these incidents include physical violence and threats made with a knife.
The situation unfolded when police were called to an assault in progress on October 2, at a location on East Houston Street. The woman, who had previously been in a relationship with Gamez, reported that he had attacked her. During their investigation, she explained that a prior incident occurred on September 24, where Gamez punched her in the face during an argument, resulting in a significant injury to her lip.
Despite the injury, she did not report the first assault at the time, as she feared for her safety due to Gamez being out on bond for previous offenses. She even shared a photo of her injury taken right after it happened.
On October 2, while arguing again, Gamez struck her once more and threatened her life with an Exacto knife, claiming he would kill her. After they arrived at her home, he went as far as to damage her car before fleeing the scene as she called for help.
The woman expressed her fear for her safety, mentioning that Gamez had shown a pattern of escalating violence and that he was aware of her home address. Gamez also has a history of family violence, which heightened her concerns.
About a week later, Gamez allegedly sent threatening text messages to her, demanding that she drop the charges against him or face violent repercussions. One of the messages reportedly stated that her “little room is gonna burst into flames,” causing her to feel even more unsafe and prompting her to contact the police again.
Gamez has since been arrested and is currently being held on a $50,000 bond. His legal troubles highlight the serious issue of domestic violence and the importance of seeking help when faced with such threats.
It is crucial for anyone experiencing similar situations to reach out to local authorities or support organizations that specialize in domestic violence. Help is available, and no one should have to endure such fear.
