SAN ANTONIO – Muertos Fest is back and better than ever! This vibrant celebration will take place at Hemisfair in downtown San Antonio, starting on October 23rd, and it’s all about art, culture, and community.
Cristina Martinez, the market curator for Muertos Mercado, recently shared exciting details about what attendees can expect at this year’s festival market during an appearance on GMSA.
The “Muertos Mercado” is a fantastic opportunity for artists to showcase their amazing work as part of the broader Muertos Fest celebrations. It’s a bustling market where visitors can browse unique creations and support local artists, all while immersing themselves in the rich traditions of Día de los Muertos.
Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a heartfelt tradition that honors and remembers loved ones who have passed away. It’s a time to celebrate their lives and keep their memories alive.
The mercado will be set up throughout the festival, allowing everyone to explore and enjoy the festivities.
Muertos Fest kicks off on October 23rd, running from 5 to 11 p.m. with a special event called “¡Presente! A Night to Remember.” This evening promises to be filled with meaningful tributes and celebrations.
The festivities continue on Saturday, October 24th, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., featuring a colorful Día de los Muertos procession at 7 p.m. This procession is a highlight of the festival, showcasing elaborate altars and costumes that reflect the vibrant spirit of the holiday.
Finally, the festival wraps up on Sunday, October 25th, with activities running from noon to 9 p.m., offering one last chance to celebrate and connect with the community.
