BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a tragic shooting that occurred outside a hookah lounge in east Bexar County early Saturday morning.
Deputies responded to a call around 5 a.m. in the 6200 block of Binz Engleman Road, where a crowd had gathered in the parking lot of the lounge. According to Sheriff Javier Salazar, two men suddenly broke away from the group, brandishing firearms, which led to the outbreak of gunfire.
Unfortunately, a 33-year-old man was shot multiple times in critical areas such as the upper body, neck, and head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s noteworthy that at the time of the shooting, the man was holding a gun in his hand.
In a separate incident during the same shooting, a 37-year-old man was discovered inside a vehicle on the opposite side of the building, suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was promptly transported to a hospital and is currently reported to be alert and talking.
The suspect involved in the shooting fled the scene. Sheriff Salazar described him as armed and dangerous, wearing all white and a bucket hat. Authorities are treating this as a serious situation.

As the investigation unfolds, deputies have discovered a firearm reported found in a yard about a mile and a half from the shooting scene. Sheriff Salazar noted that it is unclear whether this weapon is connected to the incident, but it is a possible lead as the suspect may have fled in that direction.
Interestingly, no weapons were recovered at the scene of the shooting. Sheriff Salazar mentioned that it seems likely someone picked up evidence, including potential weapons, after the shooting occurred.
To assist with the investigation, deputies have detained six individuals for questioning, including some who were live-streaming the incident on social media. This can be crucial for gathering more information about what transpired.
Sheriff Salazar emphasized that the hookah lounge has previously generated a significant number of service calls, including multiple shootings over the past year, indicating a troubling pattern in the area.
