SAN ANTONIO – A former manager at a South Side restaurant is facing serious legal trouble after being accused of helping to rob the very place where she used to work.
Blanca Velasquez, who is 43 years old, was arrested last Tuesday and charged with aggravated robbery related to an incident at Don Pedro’s restaurant.
The robbery happened shortly after midnight on September 20. According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), two suspects broke into Don Pedro’s through a back service door. They threatened an employee with a gun and stole money from the office. Both suspects escaped before the police arrived.
Security cameras captured footage of the robbery. Police noticed that one of the suspects had a distinctive tattoo on their right index finger. This detail turned out to be crucial in the investigation.
The restaurant’s owner informed the police that they had recently fired a manager who had a very similar tattoo in the same spot. This led investigators to look more closely at Velasquez.
Just two days after the robbery, Velasquez was arrested on other charges. During questioning, she confessed to her involvement in the robbery. She also shared specific details about the crime that suggested she had inside knowledge, which raised the alarm for investigators.
The affidavit from the police indicates that Velasquez worked with another person during the robbery, and it was noted that one of the victims suffered bodily injury during the incident.
Now, Velasquez is facing a first-degree felony charge of aggravated robbery, which could lead to serious consequences if she is convicted.
