SAN ANTONIO – In a tragic incident early Wednesday morning, a man lost his life after being struck by a UPS 18-wheeler on a Loop 410 access road. The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the event, particularly whether the man was initially hit by another vehicle that fled the scene.

Officers were dispatched to the location at approximately 2:35 a.m., where they found the accident site on the eastbound access road, near North Vandiver Road and close to Harry Wurzbach Road. The scene was marked by the aftermath of the collision, which raised immediate concerns about pedestrian safety in the area.

According to initial reports from SAPD, a witness indicated that the victim was already on the ground when the UPS truck struck him. This crucial detail has led investigators to explore the possibility that the pedestrian was first hit by a different vehicle, which did not stop to render aid.

As the investigation unfolds, police are working diligently to gather evidence and eyewitness accounts that will clarify the sequence of events. The SAPD is urging anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward, as this could be vital in piecing together what happened that fateful night.

While the investigation is ongoing, authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the victim or any potential suspects involved in the case. The incident has raised awareness about pedestrian safety, particularly in busy urban areas where traffic and pedestrian interactions can lead to tragic outcomes.

This event serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of road safety and the responsibilities of drivers to remain vigilant at all times, especially in areas where pedestrians are present. More updates are expected as the SAPD continues its thorough investigation into the incident.
