SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the identity of an 18-year-old man who tragically passed away following a shooting incident at a Northwest Side apartment complex. The victim, Anthony Angel Rodriguez, succumbed to injuries caused by a gunshot wound to the torso, which has been officially classified as a homicide.
The fatal shooting occurred early Tuesday morning, around 12:10 a.m. in the 4900 block of Woodstone Drive, where San Antonio police were called to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered two 18-year-old men with gunshot wounds, according to preliminary reports from the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
Rodriguez was found with a serious upper body injury and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His companion, also aged 18, suffered a gunshot wound to the ankle but is expected to recover.
According to investigators, the shooting was carried out by three suspects who exited a Toyota 4Runner and opened fire at the two men while they were outside the apartment complex. Following the incident, all three suspects fled the scene in the vehicle, which has since been identified as stolen and abandoned.
During the investigation, officers recovered multiple casings from both a handgun and a rifle outside the complex, indicating the severity of the altercation. As of now, no further details regarding the suspects have been released, and the SAPD is continuing its investigation into this tragic event.
