LOS ANGELES – In an electrifying display of skill and determination, Angel Reese delivered a perfect shooting performance, leading the Atlanta Dream to a remarkable 124-88 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday night. This game not only showcased Reese’s talent but also marked a franchise record for the Dream in terms of points scored in a single game.
Reese, who has recently faced challenges in her shooting game, was a standout player, finishing 9-for-9 from the field, which included two successful three-pointers. She scored a total of 20 points, along with 10 rebounds and eight assists, achieving her WNBA-leading 25th double-double of the season—an impressive feat considering she scored 18 of those points in the first half alone.
Notably, Reese set a new Dream record for field goals made without a miss and became only the third player in WNBA history to record a 20-point double-double with 100% shooting. With this performance, she is now just four double-doubles away from breaking Alyssa Thomas’ WNBA record of 28, achieved in the 2023 season.
Additionally, Reese showcased her tenacity on the boards, breaking her own WNBA season record of 172 offensive rebounds set earlier in the 2024 season, with three offensive rebounds in the first half alone.
Rhyne Howard also made significant contributions with 26 points, including five three-pointers, while Naz Hillmon and Allisha Gray added 14 and 13 points, respectively. The Dream’s victory extends their winning streak to eight games against the Sparks, reflecting their dominance in this matchup with a current record of 23-13.
For the Sparks, Cameron Brink scored 14 points off the bench, while Rae Burrell contributed 12 points and Nneka Ogwumike added 11, although the team has officially been eliminated from playoff contention with a disappointing record of 12-24.
The Dream’s commanding performance was punctuated by a 42-point lead at one stage, reaching the 100-point mark with 8:10 remaining in the game, showcasing their offensive prowess.
The game took an unexpected turn late in the third quarter when play was briefly halted after a sex toy was thrown onto the court, creating a moment of confusion during Jihyun Park’s free throw attempt for Los Angeles.
