GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay’s Micah Parsons, the All-Pro edge rusher, is preparing himself for a return to the NFL after a challenging year. Although he is currently on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, Parsons is making it clear that he is eager to play and ready to unleash the pent-up frustration from being sidelined.

In his first media appearance since the Packers opened training camp, Parsons expressed his determination and drive. He is recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee, an injury that ended his rookie season prematurely. “I think people are worried about, you know, if I come back. I just feel like people should just be worried about how I’m going to be when I come back,” he stated, emphasizing that his focus is on returning stronger than ever.

Parsons made a significant impact during his first season with the Packers, recording 12.5 sacks in just 13 games after being traded from the Dallas Cowboys. However, his season took a downturn during a December 14 loss against the Denver Broncos, which marked the beginning of a difficult stretch for the team. Following his injury, the Packers struggled and ended the season with a playoff loss to the Chicago Bears.

After undergoing surgery on December 29 to repair his ACL and meniscus, Parsons was given a strict nine-month recovery timeline. The timeline means he will not be able to engage in any football activities until September 29, which is after the Packers’ first two games of the season. As a result, he is expected to start the season on the PUP list, allowing him to practice after missing two games but not eligible to play until after missing four games.

The Packers have a key matchup against the Bears on October 11, which could be a pivotal moment for Parsons’ return. Looking ahead, he also has his eyes set on the game against his former team, the Cowboys, on October 18. While Parsons refrained from committing to a specific timeline for his return, he indicated that he is optimistic about being back in time to face Dallas. “I think it’s very realistic,” he remarked, noting the importance of collaboration with the medical staff to ensure he is ready.

As Parsons continues his rehabilitation, both fans and opponents alike are eager to see how he transforms his frustration into performance on the field. His resilience and determination are evident, and his return could potentially rekindle the Packers’ playoff aspirations. “Is it possible? Yes. I wouldn’t say it’s not possible,” he concluded, highlighting that the next few weeks will be crucial for his journey back to the game he loves.
