TAOS COUNTY, New Mexico – In an incident that has garnered attention, a San Antonio police officer, Taylor Thompson, faced a 15-day suspension for failing to report an encounter with law enforcement at a ski resort in New Mexico. Witnesses described him as “super intoxicated.”
On January 6, officers were called to the base area of Taos Ski Valley after reports of two individuals who appeared highly intoxicated.

Officer Thompson, who has worked with the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) for five years, and his girlfriend were identified as the two individuals in question.
Witnesses informed arriving officers that Thompson was “super intoxicated.” When officers arrived, they observed him using a ski rack for support, had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and the smell of alcohol on him.
Records indicate that Thompson appeared very confused and struggled to communicate with the officers.
He reportedly identified himself as a law enforcement officer to a medic on the scene, claiming to be from SAPD.
Surveillance footage showed Thompson consuming alcohol in public and staggering, ultimately requiring medical transport to a hospital.
His girlfriend faced arrest due to charges of battery on a peace officer and concealing her identity.
The day after the incident, a lieutenant from the Village of Taos Ski Valley Department of Public Safety contacted SAPD internal affairs, expressing concern about Thompson’s level of intoxication.
Records show that Thompson did not report the incident to his supervisor, leading to his suspension for violating rules regarding officer conduct and intoxication.
He served his suspension from June 17 to July 1.
