Unfolding This Morning

Residents are advised to remain vigilant and heed any warnings or evacuation orders this morning as river levels are rising rapidly. Heavy rainfall continues to impact areas around Hunt, Ingram, and Kerrville.

As of now, the Guadalupe River gauge at Hunt has risen to 20 feet, indicating a moderate flood stage. Similarly, the gauge at Kerrville has reached 17 feet, also categorized as moderate flood stage. However, the gauge at Comfort has alarmingly risen to nearly 36 feet, entering a major flood stage.

Additional Rainfall

Meteorologists are forecasting up to 12 inches of additional rainfall through the morning.

Rain activity is expected to shift northward throughout the day, bringing continuous rainfall primarily over the Hill Country. By noon, additional localized heavy rainfall is likely to develop across Hill Country counties, with accumulations anticipated to exceed 6 inches in certain areas. It is crucial to remain alert, as these intense rainfall areas can form unexpectedly.

As the day progresses, a brief respite from the rain is expected in the afternoon hours.

For those commuting this morning, expect light to moderate rain. Caution is advised around creeks and streams, which are experiencing flooding due to the recent rainfall. The latter half of the day should be drier, although additional rounds of rain remain a possibility.
