SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio Police Department officer was arrested on Wednesday for injury to a child, according to a news release from the SAPD.

The officer, 38-year-old Bless Achor, turned himself in at the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office after authorities issued a warrant for his arrest. This indicates that the situation was taken seriously, and the legal process was followed appropriately.

According to booking records, Achor has been released on bond after his arrest. He faces serious charges, including injury to a child causing bodily injury and abandoning or endangering a child. These charges are linked to an incident that occurred while he was off-duty.

Following his arrest, Achor was placed on administrative duty by the department. With six years of experience as a police officer in the patrol division, this incident raises questions about accountability and the behavior expected from those in law enforcement.

The SAPD is conducting an administrative investigation into the matter, which is standard procedure in cases involving officers. Transparency in such situations is crucial for maintaining public trust.

Interestingly, Achor was also involved in a previous incident where he, along with two other officers, detained the wrong person. This happened after they responded to the wrong address while searching for a domestic violence suspect. Such mistakes highlight the importance of proper training and decision-making in high-pressure situations.
