Man charged with manslaughter after gun accidentally goes off, kills teenager, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO – A tragic incident occurred on the West Side of San Antonio, where an accidental shooting has led to serious legal consequences. A young man, 18-year-old Luis Garza III, has been charged with manslaughter following the shooting that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old boy.

The incident took place early Monday morning, around 4:50 a.m., in the 3000 block of Loop 1604 westbound, which is close to Wiseman Boulevard. According to a preliminary report from the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), officers responded to an emergency call regarding an individual who had suffered a gunshot wound.

Upon their arrival, officers found the teenager who had been shot in the upper body. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene. SAPD later determined that the gun had accidentally discharged, striking the young boy.

Following the investigation, Luis Garza III was arrested and charged with manslaughter, classified as a first-degree felony. He has been booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held on a $40,000 bond.
