SAN ANTONIO – A motorcyclist found himself in a tough situation after a routine traffic stop turned into a chase. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the rider was identified as 29-year-old Wilfredo Mattei.
The incident began around 9:50 a.m. on a Monday when troopers tried to pull over Mattei, who was riding a black sport motorcycle. However, instead of stopping, Mattei sped away, leading to a brief pursuit.
According to the report, Mattei eventually abandoned his motorcycle near the intersection of Vance Jackson Road and Wall Street. After ditching the bike, he attempted to escape on foot.
Troopers were able to catch up with him after a foot chase and took him into custody. Mattei was then taken to a local hospital for treatment, although details on his injuries were not disclosed.
After receiving care, he is set to face multiple charges, including evading arrest on foot, evading arrest with a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest. This story underscores the serious consequences of fleeing from law enforcement.
The DPS is continuing its investigation into the incident, and further information could be made available in the future.
