MILAN – Lewis Hamilton, the famous Formula 1 driver, was spotted enjoying Ralph Lauren’s latest menswear collection at Milan Fashion Week. He was seated next to Colman Domingo, an actor known for his roles in “The Color Purple” and “Fear the Walking Dead.” The collection showcased a variety of styles, from business-ready pinstripes to fun, layered festival outfits.

The show took place in a majestic palazzo in Milan, attracting a star-studded audience. Among the attendees were actors Henry Golding from “Crazy Rich Asians,” Tom Hiddleston from the “Avengers” series, and Scott Eastwood, son of Clint Eastwood.

Even though the weather was sweltering, fans lined the streets hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite celebrities. They were thrilled when Thai actor Nichakoon Khajornborirak, also known as Meen, and Korean actor Kim Woo-bin waved to the crowd. Colman Domingo even had a little mishap on his way in, slipping but managing to save his hand fan, which he deemed essential for the heat.

“I was not going to leave that fan in that car. Then my heel just slid, and I was safe. But I got the fan, which was the most important thing,” Domingo explained after the show, reflecting on the hot and humid conditions of the day.

Highlights of the Collection

Ralph Lauren’s collection featured daytime suits from its luxury Purple line that transitioned seamlessly into evening wear, including tuxedo shirts and stylish bow ties paired with trendy patchwork denim coats. Accessories like berets, aviator glasses, and pocket watch chains completed the looks.

Domingo described the collection as having a 1920s inspiration, saying, “It’s evocative of what we saw today. A mixture of old and new.”

Casual Styles and Accessories

On the more relaxed side, the collection included colorful madras plaids, sporty knitwear, rugby shirts, and lightweight puffers. These outfits were perfect for casual settings—ideal for a summer festival or a beach party, even under the hot Milan sun. Some designs drew inspiration from the classic “Preppy Handbook,” featuring vibrant pinks and greens.

The beloved Polo Bear motif appeared on knitwear, dressed in outfits that reflected the runway designs.

“I saw beautiful cravats and vests mixed in with workwear, all the things I love about Ralph, bringing things from day to night, from the street, from urban communities to East Hampton,” Domingo added. “It was a great mix.”

Innovative Accessories and Footwear

The collection blurred the lines between formal and casual attire, showcasing a diverse range of models of various ages and races. Accessories were creatively repurposed; silk scarves that complemented suits transformed into colorful bandanas for casual looks. Ties were reimagined as belts and even bags, highlighting a trend toward upcycling.

Footwear choices included everything from leather sandals and velvet slippers to espadrilles and rain-resistant boots. For bags, options ranged from stylish canvas totes to luxurious snakeskin portfolios.

Scott Eastwood expressed his admiration for the collection, mentioning his interest in a snakeskin bag. “This is just a classy brand that’s timeless,’’ he remarked, noting his family’s long-standing connection to Ralph Lauren.

Henry Golding shared his appreciation for Ralph Lauren’s support throughout his career, stating, “The Purple label is just my go-to for anything refined.”
