BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A tragic incident occurred recently in Laredo, Texas, where six individuals were found dead inside a boxcar. The authorities suspect that excessive heat played a significant role in their deaths.
During a press conference on Monday, Sheriff Javier Salazar revealed that a man’s body was discovered near railroad tracks in southwest Bexar County, believed to be connected to the six victims found in Laredo.
The sheriff mentioned that the deceased man only had a Mexican voter registration card, indicating he might have been an immigrant. Federal investigators were looking into the case after a train’s alarm indicated that a boxcar door had opened in San Antonio.
One family member shared a heartbreaking story about her brother-in-law, who was traveling from Mexico. His last message, sent on Saturday, mentioned that he was on a train and expected to arrive on Sunday.
When he failed to arrive and did not contact his family, concern grew. Unfortunately, she later learned that the body found was that of her missing relative, Nereo Garcia Aguilar, who was 49 years old.
This incident highlights the dangers faced by many immigrants who undertake perilous journeys. If you or someone you know is looking for a missing immigrant, there are resources available to help.
