SAN ANTONIO – Game 1 of round 2 of the NBA playoffs had some Spurs fans on the sideline Monday after realizing the game was being streamed.

In order to watch Game 1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, fans had to subscribe to either the premium or premium plus package of the streaming service Peacock. This highlights the growing trend of sports being increasingly accessible via streaming platforms.

Peacock’s lesser premium option is priced at $10.99 a month, making it an accessible option for many fans. Additionally, the game was also available through NBC Sports Network, accessible via YouTube TV, which currently offers subscriptions at $67.99 a month.

Looking ahead, Wednesday’s Game 2 is scheduled to air on the cable channel ESPN. However, fans should note that Game 3 will be streamed on Amazon Prime, which requires a subscription of $14.99 a month or $139 a year. For those new to these services, many offer free trials, allowing fans to experience the action without an immediate financial commitment. Just remember to cancel before the trial ends to avoid charges.

For fans who prefer an in-person experience but lack a streaming subscription, checking with local restaurants and bars is a viable option. Many establishments will be showcasing the games, providing a communal atmosphere for fans to enjoy the playoffs together.

Fortunately, the Spurs organization is committed to keeping fans engaged. The Rock at La Cantera hosts watch parties for all away games and home games on a massive 40-foot LED screen. However, fans must RSVP for one of the 5,000 free reservations and comply with the venue’s rules to secure their spot. More information and reservation details can be found through their official channels.

For those who can’t make it to The Rock or prefer a different experience, tuning into the radio remains an option. The free Spurs app provides access to live game broadcasts, allowing fans to stay connected no matter where they are.

Lastly, for die-hard fans willing to invest in the full experience, attending the games live at the Frost Bank Center is the ultimate way to experience the playoffs. Remember, as the saying goes, “There’s nothing like being there.”
